The Question Formulation Technique (QFT) in Middle School

“How was space even created? O -> C Was space created by a gas nebula?”

Monica Reilly (@DrMReilly1), an educator at Independence Middle School, Virginia Beach, VA, used the QFT in an eighth grade earth science class. Students developed their own questions about space exploration. The Question Focus (QFocus) and students’ questions are below.

Adeyemi Stembridge (@DrYemiS), an educator who works on professional development and technical assistance, shared this example of the QFT being used in a Horizon Middle School class in Colorado!

Check out these students’ questions from Mr. Porter’s (@MrPorterScience) sixth grade earth science class!

Teresa Diaz (@Teresa_Diaz) and her colleagues used the QFT with eighth graders as a part of an English Language Arts & Reading World War II project. Watch the video clip and peruse the pictures below!
