Encouraging Diverse Learners

Jim Bentley (@Curiosity_Films), a fifth grade teacher at Foulks Ranch Elementary in California, uses project-based learning (PBL) in his classroom. Bentley describes his use of the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) to encourage student participation and to ensure a level playing field for his diverse learners. Kicking Off the School Year with the QFT in a First Grade Class

Earlier this month, first grade teacher Mitch Mosbey (@mitchmosbey) used the QFT in his classroom at Promise Road Elementary. The Question Focus (QFocus), “A sentence is made of parts,” was used during his lesson on sentence structure. As a part of prioritization, students were instructed to “keep or crinkle” their post-its!
