We had the pleasure of meeting Fox DeMoisey (@FxDeMoIC) this past summer at our working conference in Boston, MA. DeMoisey uses the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) in his work as an Instructional Coach for Shelby County Public Schools in Kentucky. Here are some examples of students’ questions from English Language Arts and Social Studies classes.

Teaching Primary Sources with the Question Formulation Technique

The Question Formulation Technique is a useful and effective way for students to engage with primary sources. Michelle Pearson (@tchpreservation), a social studies teacher from Colorado, recently used the Question Formulation Technique with teachers from a school district in Hawaii. Pearson used Library of Congress primary sources as the Question Focus!
